Probate & Estate
At Crosswhite, Crosswhite & Johnson, PLLC, our attorneys help people in the Statesville area and surrounding portions of North Carolina to avoid probate whenever possible, or to navigate their way through that process in a timely and cost-effective way. Compared to other parts of the country, probate in North Carolina is not generally an overly complex, costly or time-consuming process.
While this is true, the problem with this statement is that not every estate is the same. There are different assets, tax considerations, family dynamics and more. Because of these issues, a more accurate statement might be that although North Carolina's probate laws are better than some, there are still good reasons to avoid probate.
If probate can’t be avoided, most estates can be handled by our attorneys in as little as three months and actual probate court proceedings are only rarely required. Mostly, it's about details. Additionally, if the estate is not large and a spouse is the person receiving it, the process can be over with quickly through a process known as summary administration.
Our firm administers estates and trusts and provides help to clients who have concerns involving the probate process. If you need legal assistance with these types of issues we encourage you to schedule a consultation with one of our lawyers by contacting us online or by phone.
